Several years ago I lived in the Columbia River Gorge, it was a beautiful place to be. I taught studio classes there for the community collage in the Dalles, and I exhibited my work at Blackfish Gallery in Portland OR. 

The locals called the area " The Gorgeous Gorge" it is heavenly. Blue is the color I think of when I am in the Gorge, it is a very spiritual place. I use the hematite mineral as it is said to be very grounding and has a steadying effect on the human person. There are many claims to it's benefit, most people wear it as in jewelry.

There is also a wee bit of pyrite at the waters edge between the two deer that sparkles just a little in the paint.

I love the making of a painting with non traditional materials. It keeps me connected with nature and in the paintings it brings nature into the home. The trees are  interacting with each other. This painting is restful to behold.
