The Enchanted Orchard

On the farm of my childhood stood an ancient apple orchard, still generous with fruit for our family and the horses. As I painted, I remembered the horses gathering beneath its shade, pleased by the windfallen apples, their quiet grazing sometimes shaping the lower branches as surely as any pruning hand.

This painting grows from that tender memory: the happiness those horses brought to us as children, and the enduring grace of a place where work, play, and wonder lived side by side.

Here, a mare and her foal rest beneath the sheltering tree. To deepen the sense of enchantment, I wove gold into the bark and softened the horses with touches of silver. The result is a quiet, luminous image—restful, intimate, and held in the warmth of remembrance.
